Be Safe This Valentines Day. Candy, roses, jewelry, and romantic dinners are common to Valentine’s Day. However, it’s important to be safe as you celebrate. If you plan on going out on February 14th, pay close attention to Gerber Law’s the tips below.
Don’t Drink and Drive. If you plan on drinking ensure you have a safe way to get home. Get a cab, Uber or Lyft.
Know What to Do in a Car Accident. If you have the unfortunate occurrence of a car accident then it’s important to follow these steps:
- If you are hurt, wait for emergency medical help.
- Remain in a safe location while on scene.
- Do not ever apologize at the scene of an accident.
- Take pictures of different angles of the accident.
- Take pictures of your and the at fault vehicles from different angles.
- Collect information from the other driver involved.
- Call the police.
- Seek medical attention, if injured.
- Contact an attorney.
Pedestrian safety. As a pedestrian, follow these precautions:
- Remain in well-lit, high traffic areas.
- Don’t walk in the street unless necessary.
- Use cross walks.
- Be aware of vehicular traffic and avoid speeding.
Blow Out the Candles. Before you retire for the night, ensure lit candles are put out.
Protect Your Home
- Don’t post your selfies when on a date because posting while you’re out lets other know that you are away from home. If you take pictures while out, post after you get home.
- Lock parked vehicles in your driveway. Break ins are on the rise and thieves look for easy access and take money, personal belongings, and electronics from unlocked vehicles.
- Leave some lights on. Burglars are most likely to break into a dark home that appears as if no one is there. Leaving a few lights on will give the impression that someone is home.
Safeguard Your Pets. Foods and sweets aren’t always good for our pets. Chocolate and candy can be very dangerous for pets. Always remember to put food, alcohol and especially chocolate away at the end of the night so that your pet doesn’t get a hold of them.
Stay safe this Valentine’s Day!
